Courage

Hello for the almost to last time my lovely audience. Today i shall discuss courage. I will discuss how courage changes one of the characters, how it is shown in the book, and what it means. Maria Teresa or "mate" is in prison and is now writing a journal secretly away from the guards, out of sight. here on her second journal it reads "The fear is the worst part. Every time i hear footsteps coming down the hall, or the clink of the key turning in the lock, i'm tempted to curl up in the corner like a hurt animal, whimpering wanting to be safe. But i know if i do that, i'll be giving in to a low part of myself, and I'll feel even less human. And that is what they want to do, yes that is what they want to do" (Alvarez 227) this is Mates fear and ever other persons fear in prison. She doesn't want to lose what makes her human. She decides to act tougher so that she wont seem so vulnerable and weak in prison. She is trying to overcome this fear so that it does not effect her mentally or damage her in anyway shape or way possible. Mate is deeply effected bu the time she is spending in prison, she wants to go home and be safe. but this is what she gets for breaking the law and being a criminal. as you can clearly see though, Mate has changed so much, she has been brave for the longest time to stand against me, but now she feels like trembling in fear of the guards. she is no as brave as you to be sadly, hopefully this young girl could regain her courage to the fullest extent and continue her life normally. Thank you my lovely readers and i hope you all have a nice day.
